I'm still following my cheater rule: swap skeins every 16 rows, rather than the traditional rule: swap skeins every 2 rows. I get bits of red here and there, but huge blobs of grey right smack dab in the middle of the stole. I think the yarn is doing it just to irritate me. It's working!
Since I'm slightly frustrated with my tree skirt right now (it's the tie point that is giving me trouble), I decided to go hog wild in the kitchen. Yesterday began my quest to find the perfect soup to serve with a Christmas Eve dinner. First up was Cream of Mushroom Soup. It tasted great (I'll post a recipe of it later), but the texture was a bit off (a bit chewy/rubbery when biting into the mushroom chunks). And my reward from all that cooking, an hour of cleaning.
After Cleaning
Thanks to everybody who left me a comment on my Pumpkin adventure. I am reenergized and plan to tackle the other pumpkin this weekend. Although, this time around, I will be using Jane's advice and baking the pumpkin rather than steaming it. I've baked squash before and I must admit my "neck pumpkin" seemed more like a squash than a pumpkin. Although, it smelled like a pumpkin. And this time around I'll be making the pumpkin up into a pie and a soup. I'll let you know how it goes.

Marie,
Are you increasing or decreasing at the point if the tie shape? Do you plan on edging the tree skirt. A simple edging could incorporate enough ooomph to fix what is not working straight off the needles.
Brenda
If you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have noticed. When you are wearing it, it will be even less noticeable. Naturally Spun makes a good suggestion I think.
Thank you, Windyridge, that is exactly what my husband keeps telling me. I suppose I should listen to him. =)
Hi, Brenda, I am increasing from the point of the tie up to its widest point and then gradually decreasing till I reach the top. With cabling, I am making an inside border (to keep the point from curling and to sneak in some more cables). The trouble came to be when I forgot the golden rule (always add increases/decreases inside the edge rather than on it). The edge looked stretched and sloppy my first time around. So, I just need to add some extra stitches to the outside edges and recalculate my rows, I think. If I'm right, I'll have a cast on pic tomorrow. Thanks for your advice!
I don't think it looks splotchy at all, Marie. I think it will be beautiful, and I like the stitch pattern you chose! :)
Good luck working out the kinks on the tree skirt- I can't wait to see it! :)
I think the stole will be fine. Once you block it you might not see the pools of color as you kinda do now. Right now it looks intentional and that you wanted the color to pool like that. It looks good. :)
I think the stole looks great to me - if you hadn't said anything I would have assumed the color pattern was just the way you'd intended it. And this isn't related to anything, but I had to comment to tell you how much I LOVE the colors of your kitchen cabinets!
