Suffering Pain for the Love of Christmas

I wanted 2 Christmas trees this year.

This seemed easy enough to accomplish. We own an artificial tree from our days of living in an apartment (real trees are considered a fire hazard and thus were banned by our landlord). It has been sitting up in the attic since we bought our house. I drug it down from the attic and set it up in our guest bedroom. It is the first thing you see when you walk into the room.

Since we didn't have enough lights or ornaments for 2 trees, I stopped by Lowes and picked up some clear lights and red & gold balls. The lights went on easy-peesy. The ornaments were a different story.

I was a tad disappointed when I opened up the box of ornaments to find that they did not have the wire hangers already attached. No problem, I thought. I just went and found my ball of green-coated wire and my kitchen shears. Perhaps you know where this story is going.

The kitchen shears not only cut the wire, but also cut a piece of my finger off.

Still, my 1st Christmas tree is up and decorated.

If I had to do it again, I would have used wire cutters to cut the wire. I can confirm that cutting your finger hurts a lot. I'm a bit uncertain how I am going to cook a full meal on Thanksgiving Day. Cooking normally requires that your hands get dirty and wet.

Did I mention that I love my tree?

Oh no! Oh your poor finger. Sending kisses to heal the wound and decrease the pain.

ssOh no! Your poor finger! Maybe one of those little finger caps will help keep it clean when cooking, you know, the things that roll down over from the top, they kind of look like a mini finger condom... sorry, but that's what they remind me of, hope that doesn't give you a bad impression of me, but I saw them at wal-mart the other day and remembered once when I cut my finger cutting hair [I used to have my own salon], my mother in law gave me one to use to protect my finger from it getting perm solution and bits of hair from cutting it. It worked great, much more comfortable then trying to wear a whole rubber glove for those things, she used to use them on her finger tips when they got dry and cracked from weather and chemicals when she was a dental hygienist, back in the day before AIDS and mandatory glove use. Anyway, it's just a suggestion, an option over the changing of a band-aid frequently or the use of a whole glove that would be bothersome. If it's any consolation, your tree looks BEEE-autiful!!

Your tree looks great... but I hate that your finger had to be a casualty!

Oh man your tree is beautiful! I sure hope your finger heals quickly. I'm thinking about trying your chicken recipe with leftover turkey! Have a great Turkey Day!

Ouch! Hope your finger heals quickly! I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner, too, so I'll be thinking about you. Have a nice Thanksgiving!

Holy cow that must have hurt. I hope it heals quickly for the holidays. You are so ahead of me with preparations. I am nowhere near a tree yet. I haven't even bought any gifts yet.
