What is Wrong with this Picture?

Can you find my mistake?

Even with the dark light (the weather consisted of cloudy skies, snow squalls and howling winds), I think my mistake is fairly obvious.

You see it, don't you? At first, I thought I could leave it. Surely, nobody would notice. Who looks at a scarf to see if the pattern is the same on both sides? Then it occurred to me. I do that.

I never thought to invert the striped pattern at the halfway point. I was too busy patting my own back, giddy that the block was knitting up so quickly. What did the Yarn Harlot always quote in her first book? Pride goeth before a fall? Yes, that was it. Apparently, someone should sell those t-shirts.

Now that I am officially more humble than a week ago, allow me to present to you my final Ode to Quilting block.

Scarf Applique Block

I won't tell you that I was so darn proud with the way this final block came out, because I am determined to stay humble. I will tell you that the free pattern will be published in tomorrow's post.

After finishing this block, I pulled out the other 8 blocks and laid them on my dining room table. I shuffled and reshuffled the blocks. This was the final resting point for them.

What do you think?

It looks great! I noticed that the stripes weren't inverted on the first scarf but honestly thought that was the way it was supposed to be! I guess "mistake" is a relative term. =)

Amazing work

I would not ever have thought about the stripes :o)

Very cute, I can see why you wanted to fix it, not because it needed it [it looked good to me both ways] but because if YOU weren't happy with it, you would never have felt you did it 'right'

It's something I'm sure I would have done too, [forget to invert the stripping pattern] but I think I probably would have left it the way it was, just because, remember my 'reverse stockinette stitch" hat? Weren't you the one to tell me I created a new pattern? ;) LOL, now I need to go back and look to see if it was you that said it! If not, oh well, I'm gonna post this anyway.

I don't know that I would have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out, but like someone said, you'll feel better having fixed it. The blocks really look nice together...I like the bright colors!

I couldn't see the "mistake" even when you explained it. It's very pretty and so creative. You have really created something so beautiful. Nicely done.

That is fabtabulous!! I love it. The combo of color and movement work.

And it's always good to be humble.

It rocks! I'm so impressed. You deserve a huge pat on the back. Personally I'd have never noticed the 'mistake' and I think the finished article is so awesome that it cancels it out anyway!

The symmetry is pleasing on the second one, good for you for seeing that and changing it.

What great work you have done with this project.

Many pats on the back! You deserve them.
